Building Community, Sharing Ideas, Supporting Students

At ion Education, we’ve always believed that student success is a shared responsibility, and that the best solutions don’t come from one voice, but from many. That’s why one of the things we’re most proud of isn’t just what our platform can do, but what happens when our customers connect with one another.

Our community of educators, leaders, and administrators has become a space where ideas flow freely and collaboration sparks new possibilities. It’s not about talking about ion, it’s about sharing strategies, insights, and lessons learned so every student can be seen and supported. Superintendents exchange methods for reducing chronic absenteeism. Principals discuss interventions that have proven effective in their schools. District leaders highlight how data-driven decision-making has helped them proactively support students before challenges escalate.

When our customers share what’s worked for them, everyone benefits. These conversations spark innovation, create opportunities for problem-solving, and help districts learn from one another’s experiences. The ripple effect is profound: educators implement strategies that improve attendance, engagement, and learning outcomes, giving students a better chance at success.

The Power of Connection

The beauty of this community is in its authenticity. When a superintendent reaches out to another superintendent to ask how they handled a specific challenge, or when a principal shares a new approach that boosted student engagement, the conversation isn’t about recognition, it’s about results. It’s about creating tangible improvements for students. And that is exactly the impact we aim for.

Many leaders have seen measurable improvements by uniting around a shared mission: putting students first.

At El Dorado, Superintendent Jenifer Davis has seen firsthand how focusing on attendance data can change the trajectory for students. “Districtwide, we noticed an almost 10% decrease in chronic absenteeism within the first year of implementing the ion platform. Within the first semester we have buildings that have upwards to 18% decrease in absenteeism,” she shared. By tailoring her approach to the unique needs of each school, Jenifer has turned data into action that directly benefits students.

Meanwhile, at Piper Kansas City, Assistant Principal Jason Malaschak is using predictive analytics to intervene earlier with at-risk students. What stood out most to him is the way ion adapts to the specific needs of his district. “Instead of having those conversations about how we feel the students are doing, we can actually say ‘here’s what’s happening and here’s what’s actually working.’ We can finally see if our interventions themselves are successful,” Jason explained.

Spencer Brown, Assistant Director of Assessment and Accountability at Olathe, knows that teamwork and impact go hand in hand. When he brought ion into his district, his goal was to strengthen communication, simplify operations, and give educators the confidence to focus on student success. Just as important to him was finding a partner, not just a product, and that’s exactly what he found in ion. “There are plenty of companies out there that do data analytics for schools,” he said. “But ion has one thing the rest do not, their team.”

Together, leaders like Jenifer, Jason and Spencer show how putting students first, supported by accurate data, can drive real, measurable change.

Stories like these are the heartbeat of our community. Every conversation, every shared success, contributes to a culture of learning and continuous improvement, one where students are not just numbers in a system, but individuals with potential who are being actively supported.

A Gathering of Ideas: ion’s Fusion Conference

To celebrate and expand this spirit of collaboration, we’re excited to announce the ion Fusion Conference on November 12th in Overland Park, KS. Hear from leaders like Jenifer, Jason and Spencer and many more! This conference isn’t just an event, it’s a gathering of leaders committed to seeing and supporting every student. It’s an opportunity to learn from peers, share proven strategies, and explore new ideas for leveraging data to improve student outcomes.

We’re excited to announce that G.A. Buie will be our keynote speaker at Fusion 2025!

Many of you already know G.A. from his work as Executive Director of the United School Administrators of Kansas, where he’s spent years helping principals, superintendents, and emerging leaders grow, connect, and lead with purpose.

As proud partners of USAKansas, ion Education couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome G.A. to the Fusion stage for an inspiring day focused on leadership, innovation, and the power of community.

What Attendees Can Expect Inspiring sessions from districts who have successfully improved attendance and graduation rates. Practical workshops focused on using predictive analytics to identify and support at-risk students. Opportunities to connect with fellow educators and exchange strategies that have real impact in the classroom. Networking that fosters ongoing collaboration beyond the conference, helping districts continue to learn from one another throughout the school year.

Why This Matters

At ion Education, the ultimate measure of success isn’t found in reports or dashboards, it’s found in the students themselves. Every strategy shared, every idea exchanged, and every conversation between districts has the potential to change a student’s trajectory. When students are seen, understood, and supported, they have a better chance to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Building a community of educators and leaders who can lean on each other, share insights, and celebrate wins together creates a culture where students are prioritized and empowered. That’s why we’re thrilled to host this conference: to continue nurturing connections, amplifying ideas, and helping districts implement solutions that truly make a difference.

Together, we can take what we’ve learned from one another and turn it into actionable strategies that help students not just survive, but thrive.
